The Detroit Pistons will lack their 2023 first-round choice for the rest of the season.
Per Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Pistons novice forward Ausar Thompson will remain the remainder of the year while being dealt with for an embolism.
Thompson was cleared by the Pistons group doctor to resume conditioning and he will start non-contact basketball activities towards completion of the season before slowly increase over the summertime in preparation for a complete return next season. In addition to losing Thompson for the season, center Isaiah Stewart was eliminated for the rest of the year with an ideal hamstring pressure, Detroit stated in a news release:

Thompson appeared in 63 video games this season with 38 starts and balanced 8.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.9 helps. He led the Pistons with 1.1 takes and 0.9 blocks per video game.
The Pistons chose Thomspon with the 5th general choice after he invested the previous 2 seasons in Overtime Elite. His twin bro, Amen, was picked by the Houston Rockets with the No. 4 choice.
Losing their first-round choice is simply foregone conclusion in an awful season for the Pistons. At 12-56, Detroit has the second-worst record in the league and set an NBA record by losing 28 straight video games previously this season.
Without Thompson in the lineup, the veteran forward Evan Fournier and first-year forward Simone Fontecchio will see more action in the frontcourt.
The Pistons will be attempting to snap a three-game skid when they deal with the Indiana Pacers (38-31) on Wednesday night.
