March 9 (UPI)– Nine individuals are dead and another individual is hospitalized Saturday following a crash in between a traveler van and a semi-trailer truck in rural west-central Wisconsin.
The guest van was northbound on a county roadway and bring 9 individuals when it crossed into the crossway of Wisconsin State Hwy. 95 near Dewhurst Township, situated about 150 miles southeast of Minneapolis and 200 miles northwest of Milwaukee.
The van hit the semi, which was eastbound on the state highway, quickly before 8 a.m. on Friday, the Clark County, Wis., Sheriff's Department stated in a release.
The semi pulled up off of the highway with its trailer turned onto its side, while the van came to rest on its side on the shoulder of the roadway. The van appeared to have actually suffered fire damage, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
8 of the van's guests, including its motorist, and the chauffeur of the semi passed away, while one traveler in the van was required to St. Joseph's Hospital in neighboring Marshfield, Wis.
“Our hearts and prayers head out to the households and liked among all those included in addition to the very first responders who worked rapidly to offer assistance at the scene,” Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers published on X.
The very first responders consisted of the Clark County Sheriff, Wisconsin State Patrol, Hatfield, Wis., Fire and Rescue, Neillsville, Wis., Area Ambulance, and the Clark County Highway Department.
Clark County Coroner Clarissa Rochester pronounced the semi-truck motorist and 8 of the van's 9 travelers dead at the scene. Hwy. 95 was closed the majority of the day and resumed after the preliminary examination concluded and the van and semi were eliminated from the mishap website.
State and regional police are examining the wreck's cause.
The mishap victims have not been recognized pending alert of their member of the family. None are from the location and were travelling through when the mishap took place, according to the constable's department.
