Star Beau Bridges is being honored in a location of unique significance to his household.
The star of The Fabulous Baker Boys The Descendants Norma Raeand more than 200 other movies and tv series got the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Sonoma International Film Festival on Friday. His late daddy, star Lloyd Bridges, traced his roots to the town in California’s white wine nation.
“I can truly feel my father, Lloyd’s spirit here with me in Sonoma, since this is where he was raised,” Bridges informs Deadline. “He was born in San Leandro and raised in Sonoma on Spain Street. He was an altar kid at the St. Francis Church, and after that he relocated to Petaluma, went to Petaluma High School. This is his area, and to have this recognition here in the seat of our household, so to speak, is actually unique to me.”

It’s difficult for me to keep a straight face with her. She’s terrific.”

As part of the Lifetime Achievement honor for Bridges, the Sonoma celebration evaluated his 1989 movie The Fabulous Baker Boyswhich co-starred his more youthful sibling Jeff and Michelle Pfeiffer. The Descendantslaunched in 2011, paired him on screen with George Clooney.
“That was an enjoyable task. I’ve dealt with George now a couple times, and it’s constantly an enjoyment dealing with him,” Bridges states. “He’s such a terrific guy. And we shot it basically in our yard. We have a home in Hawaii.”
