Patti Smith reacted Saturday to Taylor Swift's current reference of her in the title track of her album, The Tortured Poets Department
Swift name-drops Smith, a rock poet and artist, along with poet Dylan Thomas in the chorus of her tune “The Tortured Poets Department,” launched in addition to its name album Friday. She sings, “I chuckled in your face and stated/ ‘You're not Dylan Thomas, I'm not Patti Smith/ This ain't the Chelsea Hotel/ We're contemporary morons.'”
On Instagram, Smith published a picture of herself checking out a Dylan Thomas collection on Instagram, composing: “This is/ stating I was/ relocated to be/ pointed out in/ the business/ of the excellent/ Welsh poet/ Dylan Thomas./ Thank you, Taylor.”
Thomas, a 20th century author, was well-known for his poem “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night,” together with “Under Milk Wood” and “And Death Shall Have No Dominion.” Smith is best understood for her 1978 tune “Because the Night.” Her 2010 narrative, Simply Kidswon the National Book Award for nonfiction.
