Abilene Christian CFB Team Bus Involved in Accident After Texas Tech Loss; 4 Injured

4 members of the Abilene Christian football group’s taking a trip celebration were hurt on Saturday after a vehicle mishap including the group bus following a 52-51 overtime loss versus Texas Tech.

“Four people got small injuries– one student-athlete, 2 coaches and the bus motorist,” the school stated in a declaration. “All 4 were transferred to University Medical Center in Lubbock. We’re grateful to Texas Tech director of sports Kirby Hocutt, their group doctor Dr. Michael Phy and all of the very first responders for their help and care.”

The mishap took place around 11:45 p.m. CT as the group was taking a trip from Lubbock to Abilene.

Manny Diaz of KTAB reported that 19-year-old Parker Young was apprehended and charged with DWI after supposedly ignoring traffic instructions from officers at the crossway of the Marsha Sharp Freeway and University Avenue, hitting the Abilene Christian group bus.

The bus then crashed into another lorry.

The occurrence followed a wild video game in between Texas Tech and Abilene Christian that saw the Wildcats remove a 32-14 second-quarter deficit and force overtime. Texas Tech scored a goal on its very first overtime belongings and kicked the additional point, and Abilene Christian followed that with a goal of its own.
