EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.– It didn’t take wish for New York Giants fans to reach their boiling point– 2 plays into the season opener, to be precise.

That is when the booing started. It went on sporadically for 4 quarters throughout a 28-6 drubbing at MetLife Stadium to Sam Darnold and the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon.

The Giants were booed off the field at halftime and later on when quarterback Daniel Jones tossed a set of interceptions, consisting of one that was returned 10 backyards for a goal.

Ultimately, all that might be heard in the last minutes of the blowout was the Vikings fans’ “Skol” chant resounding throughout the arena.

It’s just Week 1 in New York. The booing didn’t agree with everybody.

“I do not appreciate it, truthfully,” Giants protective captain Dexter Lawrence stated. “I get it. They wish to see their group win. It’s a rough spot. It simply is what it is.”

The issue is that the Giants’ battles seem an extension of last season and what the fans have actually sustained for much of the previous 12 years. They’ve had simply 2 winning seasons throughout that time.

At the minute, Jones appears to be the focus of the fans’ discontent. He remains in his 6th season as the Giants’ starter and has actually ended up being the sign of their failures.

Absolutely nothing that took place on Sunday versus the Vikings’ defense will alter that.

The $160 million quarterback was the inspiration for much of the boos. It began when running back Devin Singletary captured a pass in the flat on the 2nd play of the video game and slipped for a 6-yard loss. Dealing with third-and-14 from their own 26-yard line on their opening drive, the Giants got a hold-up of video game charge.

That is when the boos began to drizzle down on them. It was a precursor of things to come. The Giants stopped working to reach completion zone versus the Vikings.

“It’s our task to provide something to cheer about and to play well to perform. And we take that severe,” Jones stated. “They anticipate us to play well. We anticipate to play well. We need to do that.”

This all unfolded on an afternoon when the Giants commemorated their 100th season with the majority of their all-time living greats in the structure, consisting of Lawrence Taylor, Eli Manning and Phil Simms. They were honored for their accomplishment throughout a halftime event.

It was among the couple of factors the fans needed to cheer.

Before a few of the legends even went back to their suite at MetLife Stadium,
