Greg Landry, a previous quarterback and assistant coach for the Detroit Lions, passed away at the age of 77, the group revealed Friday night.

The No. 11 choice in the 1968 NFL draft out of Massachusetts, Landry started his NFL profession with the Lions and stayed with the group for 11 years before signing up with the then-Baltimore Colts from 1979 to 1981. Prior to signing up with the NFL, Landry starred at UMass and was the group's leading rush and scorer in 1965 and 1967 while leading the group in passing. The university honored him with an induction into its Hall of Fame in 1980.
