This will date me, however does anybody else keep in mind those fantastic Busytown and Lowly Worm books by Richard Scarry? I enjoyed these as kids, reading the illustrations looking for all of the various called things and characters. Playing Strands often seems like a comparable workout. “Today’s style, kids, is FIREPLACE. Now name as lots of words as you can that relate. Yes, CHIMNEY, that’s a great one. Oh well done, you got BROOM!”

That is the point of Strands, I think, however similarly it’s more tough when the puzzle is a bit more innovative– for example when it includes sets of things, or expressions, or reasoning in some method. Simply calling things is a lot simpler, and Strands is not a tough video game at the very best of times. We’re 250-plus video games in now, and I do not believe I’ve ever stopped working one. Contrast that with Connections, where I stop working routinely, and you can see the issue.
