Novice quarterback Spencer Rattler and the New Orleans Saints took an unusual technique to get ready for his upcoming start versus the Green Bay Packers in Wisconsin on Monday.
Lambeau Field is infamous for its cold video games and with Monday’s projection requiring low 30s and prospective snow, Rattler and the other Saints’ quarterbacks required to the group’s lunchroom walk-in freezer to go through their plays.
“This early morning, (Andrew) Janocko took us in the lunchroom freezer, where it resembled 10 degrees, and we’re simply going through the entire script therein, therefore simply doing that, that assisted a lot,” Rattler stated, according to ESPN’s Katherine Terrell. “So ideally it’s not 10 degrees, however we’ll be prepared.”
Quarterbacks coach Janocko joked that the film Cool Runnings influenced his choice, per Terrell. The movie includes a scene where a character beings in an ice cream truck to get ready for freezing temperature levels as an Olympic bobsledder.
Janocko, who invested 8 years training in the NFC North with the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears, has a lot of experience preparing his gamers for cold conditions.
“I believe there’s something we stated about simply getting ready for [the cold]so you’re not surprised and it’s not something unexpected,” Janocko stated, per Terrell. “It’s something that you handle as far as you get ready for the challenger and get ready for the location. I simply believed it was excellent to do something a little various. At this time of the year, it’s enjoyable to do various things. It’s a long season and in some cases besides simply being in a conference day after day after day, simply doing something various, altering the scene. Guys believed it was amusing. The lunchroom employees believe I’m out of my mind.”
Rattler will begin in location of the hurt Derek Carr, with head coach Darren Rizzi specifying that Carr is enhancing which “the last number of days have actually absolutely been motivating,” according to Terrell.
