After changing from Lightning to USB-C and revealing assistance for RCS in Messages in 2024, Apple may have another surprise for iPhone critics: On Tuesday, Reuters reported that Apple will enable other business to access its Near-Field Communication (NFC) innovation. Pointing out “3 individuals acquainted with the matter,” Apple is doing something about it to settle European Commission antitrust charges, in addition to a possible financial fine.
Apple utilizes NFC for its tap-and-go payment system, Apple Pay, however does not permit other business access to the innovation. The EC raised antitrust charges, mentioning that Apple’s practice provided the business an unjust benefit.
