100 Ghost Stories That Will Lead to My Own Death is a scary anthology told by a grade school young boy. The manga opens with the young boy, Yuuma, preparing to eliminate himself. His schoolmate stops him and asks him, “Ever become aware of the hundred ghost stories?” According to her, if these ghost stories get informed, a ghost will appear after the one hundredth one is ended up.
It's never ever revealed why Yuuma wishes to eliminate himself, however this ghost story concept intrigues him. After the setup in the start, the manga falls under a pattern. Each story opens with Yuuma talking at an electronic camera (which remains in the instructions of the reader, so it's as if he's talking right at us). He presents the story, and after that we dive into the scary tale. Each scary tale is a stand-alone story. After the story is completed, we see Yuuma once again for some last words, like bidding us goodnight.
The very first volume covers 10 stories, so we're one-tenth of the method through. Yuuma appears little and adorable and safe, and this is juxtaposed versus the violent, dark, bloody ghost stories he informs.
The yarns in 100 Ghost Stories That Will Lead to My Own Death consist of a household that believes they'll pass away due to the fact that they do not have “life lines” on their palms, a bilker who gets haunted, and a slasher killer terrifying a family. Some stories are more powerful than others, however checking out directly through does raise a weird cumulative impact.
The art work is excellent– in some cases it's outstanding, filled with information and really atmosphere-inducing. Manga can be an excellent medium for brief scary stories, and this is an enjoyable volume for fans of the brief scary story category. The stories are fairly basic, however they get their point throughout, and some are rather visceral. The setup at the start is likewise appealing, due to the fact that what's going to occur when Yuuma makes it through all those stories? We'll need to find out more and learn.
