“It's just the start of my journey,” the Chilean-Palestinian star informs Wanderer
Elyanna is prepared to present herself (and her heritage) to the world.
On Thursday, the Palestinian Chilean artist (who Wanderer called among music's Future 25 in 2015) revealed that she'll launch her launching album Woledtowhich equates to “I am born,” on April 12.
“This album is my launching and it resides in its own world,” she informs Wanderer“Despite being my very first, it is a renewal of myself while functioning as the unveiling of Elyanna. It's something I've never ever heard previously, yet it feels classic.”
“To me, this album is a journey through identity, love, rage, and feminism,” she includes. “Every lyric, every beat, and every tune has a lot intent … It's a totally free speculative job that I constantly wished to do however wished to wait up until I was prepared, and now that it's time, I'm happy to reveal it. It's just the start of my journey.”
Her Latina and Palestinian heritage motivated the album, that includes a tune together with her grandpa, a Zajal vocalist and poet. “How stunning it is to integrate customs and culture with the contemporary world,” she states. “There are a lot of components of my home Nazareth, Palestine that represent me as an artist and belong of me revealing through in my music, programs and style sense.”
Elyanna will commemorate the album's release with 2 unique programs: one at Los Angeles' Wiltern on April 27 and another at London's Koko on May 6. She went on a trip previously this year, where she states she felt a strong neighborhood with the audience: “People came completely on style with coins, kuffiya, bandannas … The bond and connection you develop with fans and after that having the ability to carry out for them is various and absolutely nothing feels as gratifying as that to me.”
The album statement follows her single along with Sevdaliza, “Good Torture.” She dropped tunes “Mama Eh” and “Sokkar” in 2015 and launched a 7-track EP entitled Elyanna 2 in 2022.
