Prominent manga developer Paru Itagaki, best understood for her works Beastars and Sandahas actually debuted her newest series, Taika no Risei (Taika's Reasonin the seventh problem of Weekly Shounen Champion on Thursday. This marks Itagaki's 2nd brand-new serialization in 3 months, following the October 2024 launching of her web manga Ushimitsugao on Champion Cross.
Taika no Risei presents a special duo as its lead characters: Ao, a high school woman, and Taika, a “dogman.” The story mixes Itagaki's signature creativity and ingenious storytelling. The editor-in-charge explained the series as “overruning with Paru Itagaki's imaginative world” and prompted readers to immerse themselves in its non-traditional yet fascinating property.
The release of Taika no Risei begins the heels of Ushimitsugaoa sensuous horror-comedy fixating Megumi Sano, a 33-year-old homemaker with strong spiritual level of sensitivity. The plot follows Megumi's disturbing encounters with a ghost that begins appearing nighttime throughout the witching hour, blurring the limits in between scary and dark humor. This series, which debuted on October 16 in 2015, checks out styles of intimacy, the supernatural, and human vulnerability in Itagaki's distinctly vibrant design.
A tv anime adjustment of Sanda by animation studio Science SARU is set up for a Fall 2025 airing. Weekly Shounen Champion serialized the manga from July 2021– July 2024, with Akita Shoten assembling it into 16 volumes.
Itagaki serialized Beastars in Weekly Shounen Champion for 22 volumes from September 2016 to October 2020. Produced by CG animation studio Orange, the very first 2 anime seasons aired in Fall 2019 and Winter 2021. The very first part of the last season debuted on Netflix on December 5 in 2015.
