David Barrington Holt, who contributed in advancement of the ground-breaking Henson Performance Control System, which enabled a single entertainer to run complex, computer-driven puppets, passed away March 13 from cancer problems.
His credits consisted of George of the Jungle, The Phantom, Dr. Dolittle and Scooby-Dooto name a few productions.
Born in England in June 1945, he got his bachelor's degree in commercial style with honors from London's University of the Arts in 1963.
Over the next 20 years, he developed a credibility as a designer, professional photographer, modelmaker and conservator of mechanical antiquities. His customers consisted of the London Science Museum, the Greater London Council, the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, and many other services and personal people in England and abroad.
In 1984, he established Hero Models, which provided designs, minis, and hero impacts for the television, movie, and industrial markets. One such job consisting of re-creating the fly-past of the spacecraft Giotto and Halley's comet for the movie Kids of the Dust.
