EcoFlow’s Power Hat is a floppy, phone-charging photovoltaic panel for your noggin

EcoFlow’s brand-new Power Hat must be the dorkiest piece of headgear I’ve ever become aware of– and I believe I enjoy it? It’s a wide-brimmed floppy-ish sun hat loaded with solar batteries that you can charge your phone with. EcoFlow states it can charge a 4,000 mAh smart device to capability “in as quick as 3– 4 hours.” Sounds suitable for delicately scrolling feeds at a camping area or making it through in a sun-blasted, Mad Maxian desert wasteland.

According to EcoFlow’s specifications, the $129 Power Hat’s solar batteries are made from a thin, versatile product called passivated emitter and rear contact (PERC) monocrystalline silicon. It uses approximately 12-watt charging by means of the USB-A and USB-C ports on the underside of the brim. The entire thing weighs 370 grams.

Oh, and the Power Hat is IP65 ranked, implying it’s dust-proof and can endure water jets from any instructions (although I question whether that is true if you’re pointing a very soaker at the USB ports). Here’s a marketing video, total with an inoffensive, slightly Kings of Leon-sounding soundtrack, which is ideal floppy hat music if my previous music celebration experience is any sign:

The hat can be found in 2 size varieties. The smaller sized one is adjustable in between 56– 58cm (22– 22.8 inches) while the bigger size is 59– 61cm (23.2– 24 inches). The Power Hat will be readily available in preorder up until August 31st and EcoFlow states it anticipates to begin delivering them out in mid-September.
