Ciryl Gane will want to take an action back to title contention at today's UFC 310 in Las Vegas– and much of his inspiration is focused around righting the wrongs from his one-sided loss to Jon Jones in March of in 2015.
Frenchman Gane was sent by Jones simply over 2 minutes into the preliminary in a battle to object to the UFC's then-vacant heavyweight champion in what was his 2nd effort to win a world title, a platform he wants to go back to this weekend when he rematches Alexander Volkov more than 3 years after initially scoring a consentaneous choice win over the huge Russian.
“When I recall at it, it was apparent that I was not there,” Gane stated on the UFC 310 Countdown program of his battle with Jones, as kept in mind by MMA Junkie. “It represented precisely how I felt on the day of the battle. It was an overall misconception of what was occurring.
“I do not acknowledge myself there. It's something I've never ever performed in my life. I've never ever combated that method before. My range management, my motion, the awareness that I like to reveal– I had none of that.”
Gane rebounded from that loss to Jones with a 2nd round TKO win over Serghei Spivac in September of in 2015 in his native France and now, lots of months eliminated from that loss to the champ, he sees the episode as being a favorable for his profession.
“Looking back, I believe that this experience might have been advantageous,” Gane stated. “For me personally, it assisted me to refocus on myself. It offered me a spirit of vengeance, a competitive spirit.”
Gane gets an opportunity to display this advancement in Las Vegas late on Saturday night.
