NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)– Mandisa, a modern Christian vocalist who appeared on “American Idol” and won a Grammy for her 2013 album ‘Overcomer’, has actually passed away. She was 47.
An agent for the vocalist informed The Associated Press that the vocalist was discovered dead in her home in Nashville, Tennessee, on Thursday. The agent stated the reason for Mandisa’s death was not yet understood.
Mandisa, whose complete name was Mandisa Lynn Hundley, was born near Sacramento, California, and matured singing in church. She acquired fame after completing ninth on “American Idol” in 2006.
As she left, host Ryan Seacrest informed the vocalist that she was “a fantastic spirit on the program.”
