NASA and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) welcome media to the main launch event of the brand-new SERVIR Central America local center, situated in Costa Rica, on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. EST. The occasion will be hosted by NASA SERVIR Program Manager Daniel Irwin, U.S. Ambassador to El Salvador William H. Duncan, and an agent from El Salvador’s Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN).
Central America is the current addition to SERVIR’s international network, a NASA and USAID effort that has actually been running in Asia, Africa, and Latin America given that 2005.
Executed by the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE), SERVIR Central America will reinforce environment durability, sustainable resource management, and biodiversity preservation through satellite information and geospatial innovation. The SERVIR Central America center will support evidence-based decision-making at regional, nationwide, and local levels, reinforcing the durability of more than 40 million individuals in among the world’s most climate-vulnerable areas.
