Padres get ‘dollar versatility’ by trading Matt Carpenter, Ray Kerr to Braves for small leaguer -Tribune

The Padres on Friday unloaded Matt Carpenter and the majority of his income, additional clearing the method to ultimately make some required lineup relocations.

The 38-year-old Carpenter was delivered with left-handed reducer Ray Kerr and $1.5 million to the Atlanta Braves for outfielder Drew Campbell.

FanGraphs approximates the Padres payroll is at $151 million for 2024. With an objective of being listed below $200 million when the season begins, the Padres still need to include a minimum of 2 beginning pitchers, 2 outfielders and a minimum of a couple reducers.
