Dairy company employer deals with prison after fatal Listeria break out
The head of a dairy business behind a Listeria break out in Austria deals with more than a year in jail.
The one in charge of Käserei Gloggnitz was sentenced to 13 months in prison today. The 39-year-old dealt with numerous charges however rejected the accusations and the decision was reported not to be last, according to media reports.
A Listeria break out from 2020 to 2022 had 10 cases and triggered a minimum of 3 deaths.
Käserei Gloggnitz dealt with monetary problems in 2022 which resulted in insolvency procedures being opened and in 2023 the closure of the plant was bought.
Extra claims will be heard in mid-March at the Regional Court of Wiener Neustadt when a number of other witnesses will likewise be questioned.
