500 young sturgeon launched into Saginaw River system

Credit: Pixabay/CC0 Public Domain 5 hundred young sturgeon were launched at 4 places into the Saginaw River system recently as part of a continuous effort by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Michigan State University to reconstruct the huge fish's population. The sturgeons originated from the Black Lake Stream Side Rearing Facility in Onaway, a center opened by the DNR and MSU that provides hatcheries all over the state. Each August, sturgeons are likewise launched into the Black River, Mullett Lake in Cheboygan County, and the Boardman River in Grand Traverse County, the DNR and MSU stated in a press release Wednesday.
