United Steel Inc., New England's greatest steel producer, states it is close to finishing an offer for what it declared was $757,000 owed to it by building supervisor Whiting-Turner Contracting. The payments are for steel provided in 2022 and 2023 on a U.S. Navy shipyard facilities job in Kittery, Maine.In its breach-of-contract claim submitted in federal court in Baltimore, United Steel implicated Whiting-Turner of breaching its agreement by keeping the majority of the cash owed for a year.
