WASHINGTON, DC-- According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics' National Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries in 2023 (launched December 19th, 2024), there were 5,283 deadly work injuries taped in the United States in 2023, a 3.7-percent reduction from 5,486 in 2022. (See chart 1). The deadly work injury rate was 3.5 casualties per 100,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees, below 3.7 in 2022. (See chart 2.)
