Talking with America’s Sweetheart about “Reject Beach,” Gear, Tone, and Their Upcoming Album ‘One of A Kind’

America’s Sweetheart, the female-fronted, Jersey City-based indie-pop band, just recently revealed their most current single/music video, “Reject Beach,” a track from their upcoming album, One of A Kind

While tape-recording the album, guitarist/vocalist Valerie ‘Val’ Germain was detected with a really uncommon cancer. She kept taping through her treatment and left her musical sibling, the band’s co-founder, singer and bassist Anastasia ‘Stace’ Kinsella, a parting desire: “Finish the album.”

“Val and I matured together in this band. She enjoyed composing tunes with me, and she liked America’s Sweetheart, so she resembled, ‘Let’s play.’ Absolutely nothing would have taken place without that,” Stace states. “There’s a huge deafening area left by her.”

In early 2024, Stace and her co-writer, the famous NYC-based manufacturer Godfrey Diamond (Lou Reed, Etta James, Frank Sinatra), crowdsourced the funds required to go back to the studio and deal with the music. After finishing the band’s 3rd album, One of A Kind, they have actually now provided to fans its very first of 3 upcoming video, “Reject Beach.”

“Reject Beach” records the freedom of shedding your troubles together with your clothing for a moonlit skinny-dipping session after a lot of hours of low-wage work. The dreamy feel of its verses carries the listener into the ocean, rocked by the waves till a contagious, fast-moving bassline brings differing choruses of peace of mind and wordless relief.

The “Reject Beach” video welcomes audiences inside that sisterhood– backstage and behind the scenes to the enjoyable, humor, enthusiasm, and mayhem of America’s Sweetheart.

Guitar Girl Magazine talked with Stace Kinsella to speak about Valerie Germain, “Reject Beach,” the upcoming album, and equipment.

How would you explain your music?

We play rock-and-roll– each tune is its own little male. We are informing stories that are ours and truly, everybody’s.

Can you share the motivation behind “Reject Beach,” and the innovative procedure associated with bringing it to life?

‘Reject Beach’ is a classic, summertime memory of our guitarist, Val’s; she wished to compose an everyman’s tune. Val is from Woonsocket, RI and I went to high school in Newport, RI, which is a salted, beachy traveler town that brings a great deal of Rhode Islanders to work for the summer season to make some cash for the winter season. Valerie operated at a very popular dining establishment in Newport called Christies. The townies liked it therefore did the travelers. I believe the cooking area was downstairs, so you were adding and down these stairs with heavy trays of food and the table turnover was extreme. It was constantly hot for the waitstaff and kitchen area employees. Any native Newporter understands that the location to address completion of a hot, sweaty shift is to Reject Beach, a modest beach beside Baileys Beach, which is a personal beach that none people might ever delight in. After hearing it, a pal of ours stated it was similar to a Bruce Springsteen tune.
